Each participant can earn 1 entry per day into the prize drawing by logging a sustainable trip (carpool, vanpool, bike, walk, transit) on gohiocommute.com/morpc. Participants may earn a maximum 1 entry per day regardless of the number of times they log a sustainable trip. Prize drawings will occur on weekday mornings. Winners will be notified within 24 hours of each drawing (with the exception of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday winners, who will be announced on Monday) via the e-mail address they used to register for the Commuter Challenge.
To be eligible for the daily drawings, participants must log their eligible trips by 11:59 p.m. EST each day. Participants may win a maximum of two (2) daily prizes per week (Sunday – Saturday). The Daily Challenge prize drawings will last from June 3 to June 10th.
For each day a participant logs a sustainable commute on the Gohio Commute platform, that person will gain an entry to the Grand Prize drawing that will take place within 24 hours after the Challenge ends on June 10th at 12:00 a.m.
To be eligible for the grand prize drawing, all eligible trips must be logged by Sunday, June 10, 2019 by 11:59 p.m. EST. Participants may win a maximum of one (1) grand prize.
Winners do not have to be present to win their prizes. However, they must claim their prize within seven (7) business days upon notification of the award. After 7 business days have elapsed, the original winner will forfeit the right to the prize, and a new winner will be drawn. If there is a tie between multiple participants, a random drawing will be used to select a winner.
Participants are invited to compete in the “Hashtag Contest” by posting photos from traveling by transit, riding in a carpool/vanpool, walking, and/or biking with the hashtag ‘#MakeYourMilesMatter’ on their commute on Facebook and/or Instagram. Contestants are encouraged to avoid taking selfies while operating a sustainable mode of transportation as any pictures taken while the photographer is driving will not be eligible. Those who do will do so at their own risk.
Three drawings will occur for this prize category: one drawing from posts uploaded between Monday at 5:00 a.m. through Tuesday at 11:59 p.m., one drawing from posts uploaded Wednesday at 1:00 a.m. through Thursday at 11:59 p.m, and one drawing from posts uploaded Friday at 1:00 a.m. through Sunday at 11:59 p.m.
Participants are eligible to win one (1) selfie prize.
By posting a selfie with the hashtag ‘#MakeYourMilesMatter,’ the participant thereby allows challenge organizers to post the picture on their social media pages, webpages, and any print marketing materials.
Claiming a Prize
Daily and grand prizes may be claimed by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 1-800-742-RIDE. Prizes must be claimed within three (3) business days of their awarding. If a prize goes unclaimed after 3 business days, it will be forfeited by the original winner, and a new winner will be drawn using the same entrants as the original prize drawing.
Commuter Challenge participants will have the opportunity to create or join teams to compete for two types of grand prizes. Once an individual joins a team, they may not change teams for the duration of this year’s Commuter Challenge unless special approval is granted form a Commuter Challenge organizer. There are two prize categories for teams, one category based on cumulative point total (Cumulative Point Category) and one based on how many new Gohio users are recruited to a team (Champion Rookie Category). Team are not eligible to win more than one prize in either category.
All commutes must be logged before the end of the week (11:59pm on Sunday, June 9, 2019). Commuter Challenge organizers will contact the designated team captain and determine the best method of delivery for the prize pack.
Cumulative Point Category
Teams earn points based on the number of days their members log sustainable commute trips. Teams will earn the grand prize based on cumulative competition. Each individual may earn up to one (1) for their team per day. The maximum amount of participants per team is 20, meaning each team can achieve a maximum of 140 points (20 points per day x 7 days of the Commuter Challenge). One (1) team will be selected for this prize category. The top team with the most weekly points accumulated will be awarded a prize pack. The next runner-up will receive these prizes in the event a team wins multiple weekly competitions. If there is a tie between multiple teams, a random drawing will be used to select the winning team.
Champion & Rookie Category
The top two teams with the most new Gohio users will be awarded a prize pack. For this Commuter Challenge, new Gohio users (Rookies) are defined as either new registrants on Gohio or users who have never logged a trip on the platform before. Two (2) teams will be selected for this prize category, the team with the most new Gohio users and the runner up. If there is a tie between multiple teams, a random drawing will be used to select the winning team.
The first team to recruit a new Gohio Commute user will win two movie tickets per participant on the team. If there is a tie between multiple teams, a random drawing will be used to select the winning team.
Claiming Team Prize Packs
Commuter Challenge organizers will alert the winning team’s designated team captain via the email address on file with Gohio Commute. The team captain will be responsible for claiming the prize pack. Daily and grand prizes may be claimed by emailing email@example.com or calling 1-800-742-RIDE. Prize packs may be picked up at the MORPC office (111 Liberty St, Suite 100, Columbus, OH 43215) or hand delivered anywhere within the 43215 zip code. Commuter Challenge organizers are not responsible for the successful delivery of prizes to individuals within a team.
Team captains must claim their team’s prize within three (3) business days of their awarding. If a prize pack goes unclaimed after 3 business days, it will be forfeited by the original winning team, and the prize pack will be awarded to the team next-in-line (e.g. the team with the next most points accumulated).
The Central Ohio Commuter Challenge is open to any individual 18 years of age or older who lives or commutes in the 15-county Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission area of Delaware, Fairfield, Franklin, Hocking, Knox, Fayette Licking, Logan, Madison, Marion, Morrow, Perry, Pickaway, Ross, or Union counties. Limit one registration per individual. Contest is not open to MORPC, COTA, Smart Columbus, or CoGo employees, Lyft employees, Commute by Enterprise employees, MORPC board members or their immediate families.
Commuters who are physically unable to log their daily commutes on the Gohio Commute platform are welcome to phone in their sustainable commutes and claim their prizes (1-888-742-RIDE). MORPC staff will ensure the diverse populations of Central Ohio may participate in the Challenge.
By participating in the Commute Challenge, individuals agree to the use of their names, hometowns, likenesses and/or recognition information for promotional purposes in any medium without additional compensation, or notice to winners, to the extent permitted by law.
The Central Ohio Commuter Challenge does not discriminate against any individual or participant because of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, handicap, sexual orientation and/or any other factor as specified in Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and subsequent amendments.
